About a year ago, I shared something with our team that had been on my mind for a while: we needed to start investing in the same kinds of videos we were selling to our clients.

As a video production company, we spend so much time pouring everything we have into our clients that sometimes we forget to give ourselves the same attention. It wasn’t that we didn’t believe culture videos worked. We had seen them work firsthand for other companies. We just weren’t making the time to do it for ourselves.

At our 2025 strategic meeting, we finally decided that needed to change. We set a plan in motion to officially share Captivated Content’s core values publicly in 2026, six years after the company was founded.

Our Core Values Weren’t New. Sharing Them Was.

We didn’t sit down in 2025 and suddenly decide what we wanted Captivated to stand for. Our core values were already part of the business. We were living them daily, talking about them often, and continuing to build our company around those principles.

We just hadn’t openly shared them.

As Captivated has continued to grow, we’ve become even more intentional about the kind of company we want to build. We truly believe people want to work for companies that take care of their employees, and having core values that our entire team buys into and works toward is part of how we do that.

So instead of simply putting those values on our website or hanging them on a wall, we did what we do best. We put them on video. Check out one of our core value videos below to see what this looks like for our team!

Practicing What We Preach

Throughout 2026, we’ve been releasing one core value video each quarter. It has become a really fun campaign for our entire team to collaborate on, but it has also given us something much bigger than another piece of social media content.

These videos have helped us tell the Captivated story.

Since beginning the release of our core value videos, we’ve won two major projects centered around core values, hired two summer interns, and brought another full-time team member onto our team. We can’t attribute every one of those things solely to a video, but we’ve seen firsthand how clearly communicating who we are and what we believe can open doors.

Our values have always been the baseline of our story. Sharing them gave more people the opportunity to actually hear that story.

After years of seeing the impact culture and core value videos can have for our clients, getting to experience it ourselves has been a pretty cool full-circle moment. It turns out there’s something to be said for buying into what you’re selling

But What Does This Actually Do for Your Business?

And for the decision-makers reading this who care a little less about the warm and fuzzy side of company culture, let’s talk about the tangible side.

Core value videos aren’t just something that makes your team feel good. When they’re used intentionally, they can become real tools for your business. Here are four ways we believe they can make an impact:

1. Recruiting: People want to know what they’re signing up for before they accept a job. Core value videos give potential employees a look at your culture, expectations, and the people they may be working alongside. They can also help attract candidates who actually align with the way your company operates, not just candidates who check the boxes on a job description.

2. Onboarding: Once you’ve hired the right person, these videos can become part of your onboarding process. Instead of handing a new employee a list of values and expecting them to understand what they mean, video allows your team to explain what those values actually look like in practice from day one.

3. Culture Building: Core values shouldn’t be something you talk about once and forget. Video gives your existing team something tangible to come back to and helps keep those values part of the conversation. Even the process of creating the videos can get your team thinking and talking about what those values mean to them.

4. Brand Building: Your culture affects more than your employees. It influences how you communicate, make decisions, solve problems, and serve your clients. Sharing your core values gives potential customers another way to understand the people behind your business and what it’s going to be like to work with you.

More Than Words on a Wall

Putting our core values on video didn’t create Captivated’s culture. The values were already there. What video did was give us a better way to share them.

For years, we’ve helped other companies tell stories about their people, culture, and values. This time, we finally gave ourselves the same time and attention. Seeing the impact it has had on recruiting, our team, our brand, and even new business has been a reminder of why we believe in this type of work in the first place.

If your core values are an important part of your company, don’t let them live only as words on a wall.
