Your company is growing and, in the past, you have had trouble getting top qualified individuals to apply for your newest position. This is a problem for many businesses. One of the best ways to solve this problem is by doing a recruitment video, or better yet, a recruitment video campaign. I’ve worked on recruitment video campaigns for small businesses, large businesses, and even police forces. And with each campaign, the results were almost identical. Each organization had their most qualified applicants in a shorter amount of time when they included video in their recruitment efforts.
There are many reasons why video works for recruiting. From the recruitment videos I’ve worked on in the past, I’ve learned that there are 4 main reasons why recruitment videos work. These reasons include the ability to showcase culture, engage audiences, increase professional perception, and illustrate passion from their current employees, team members, and owners.
Showcasing Culture
One of the first reasons that recruitment videos tend to perform so well is the ability to showcase your organization’s corporate culture. Videos can show a behind the scenes look at your business. Potential applicants can start to imagine what life might be like if they were to join your organization. As part of a recruitment campaign, you might want to share short and specific videos from employee events similar to the Nix Trap Shoot video I produced below.
Engaging Audiences
Another reason recruitment videos work so well includes engagement on social media platforms. People who know of others that are looking for a specific position are more likely to share recruitment videos than job postings. Videos stand out on social media and recruitment videos tend to convey information about careers in a more digestible format. Plus, a well-produced recruitment video will make audiences want to take action.
Increasing Professional Perception
This reason was a little harder to put into words, but it might be the most important reason behind increases in qualified applicants. When you put together a high quality recruitment video campaign, your company looks more professional or “glamorous.” This increase in professional perception will attract top talent to join your team because they recognize your organization as the “real deal.”
Illustrating Passion
My fourth reason why videos produce higher amounts of quality applicants is the emotional appeal. Employees are a company’s biggest advocates. If you can include employee testimonials in your recruitment campaigns, their passion for their jobs and your organization will ooze out of them. People want to work for companies that they believe in. They want to be a part of something great. When your employees are speaking passionately about your business, they are showcasing your business’s greatness. Watch this example we put together for Nix Field Coatings Division.
